Dawn Eastmond, Ph.D.

Role: Dawn Eastmond serves as the Director of Graduate Studies at The Scripps Research Institute. In this role, she promotes the educational goals of the Graduate Program. Her responsibilities include curriculum development, outreach and recruitment, and assessment. She serves as the catalyst for developing and delivering innovative programming, courses and workshops for high school, undergraduate and graduate students by expanding our partnerships and collaborations across the campus and in the community.

Background: Dawn holds a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Columbia University and a doctorate in biochemistry and molecular biophysics from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Medicine. She is a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS), Society for Advancing Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) and Association for Women in Science (AWiS).

Prior to joining the Office of Graduate Studies at Scripps, Dawn served as Associate Dean for Student Development at City of Hope in the Los Angeles area.
