How to Apply

The graduate program at the Kellogg School was designed to educate and train the next generation of scientists in the biological and chemical sciences. The success of this mission requires highly motivated individuals who thrive on challenges. There are no specific pre-requisites; however, applicants should demonstrate good undergraduate training in the biomedical sciences or a related field and a strong commitment to research.

Admission standards are the same for the La Jolla and Florida campuses, the Joint Skaggs Oxford Program, and the Florida Atlantic University-Scripps Florida MD/PhD Program. For The Master's Program in Clinical Investigation use a separate application found here.

The following materials must be received by December 1 in order for the application to be considered complete.

  • Submit an online application here: Apply Online
  • Request official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended; the transcripts should be mailed by the school to the Office of Graduate Studies.
  • Request both general and applicable subject Graduate Record Exam (GRE) scores from ETS. The institution code for the GRE is 4651. No department code is necessary.
  • If applicable, international students must submit evidence of proficiency in English. Request Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores from ETS. The institution code for the TOEFL is 4651. No department code is necessary.
  • A minimum of three letters of recommendation from faculty or employers who can assess your potential for graduate-level research. Each recommender's contact information should be submitted online with your application.
