Located in close proximity to San Diego’s bustling biomedical research community, the La Jolla, California campus is situated with easy access to the University of California, San Diego, the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, and Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute, as well as a concentration of 300 biotechnology companies. The campus provides more than one million square feet of lab space on 35 acres of land adjacent to the Pacific Ocean. This includes an extensive offering of scientific centers and technology cores that provide students and researchers with access to state-of-the art instrumentation and experienced staff that can assist with designing and conducting experiments and analyzing and interpreting data.

While the level of scientific investigation is intense, the atmosphere is collegial and informal; collaboration by the 120 graduate school faculty members with research programs ranging from chemical biology, innate immunity, protein misfolding, DNA repair, and total synthesis is not only encouraged but critical for addressing questions that lead to the improvement of human health.
