Summer High School Internship Program

Scripps Research’s Summer High School Internship Program is offered on both of the institute's state-of-the-art campuses: La Jolla, California and Jupiter, Florida. The program exposes students to contemporary issues in biomedical research and provides hands-on laboratory experience and mentorship. It is committed to increasing the number of talented students who choose a career in the biological and chemical sciences, particularly first-generation college-bound students and students from groups that are underrepresented in science.

On both campuses, the summer research internship program begins with a "boot camp" designed to sharpen students' skills in basic laboratory techniques, and is followed by a seven-week paid research internship. Follow any of the links below or underneath the photo for program details and the online application.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Due to uncertainty surrounding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, several aspects of the 2021 Scripps Research High School Summer Internship remain in flux. At this point, we fully intend to host the internship inside laboratories on our La Jolla, California and Jupiter, Florida campuses, as we have in previous years. However, should pandemic conditions worsen and/or related restrictions be enacted, some components of the program could take place virtually. Additionally, at this point we are uncertain as to the dates and format of the laboratory skills "boot camp" held at the start of the internship. Further details about this component of the program will be announced soon.
