Scripps Research offers unique mentoring and research experiences to undergraduates during the summer and throughout the academic year. Recruitment efforts are geared toward students with no prior research experience, students with few research opportunities at their home institutions, students from underrepresented and underserved populations, and students who are the first in their family to go to college.

Our ten-week summer undergraduate programs (SURF and REU) are held on both our La Jolla, California and Jupiter, Florida campuses and offer students the opportunity to experience research with and be mentored by our world-renowned faculty. All participants receive a stipend and housing is provided on a nearby university campus.

SURF/REU application deadline: 15 February 2022

Academic Year programs at Scripps Research present opportunities for college undergraduates to gain laboratory research experience during the normal school year.
