TSRI Program & Year: 2014 TSRI REU Summer Program, Florida campus

Research Poster Title: "Screening peptidomimetic ligands against patient-specific chronic lymphocytic leukemia monoclonal antibodies"

Her experience: "As a Scripps REU student, I learned how chemistry and biology disciplines can be combined to investigate pressing health-related problems and interesting basic research questions."

What she took away: "My summer experience confirmed my desire to continue my education and work in academic research as a graduate student."

Latest news: "I just recently finished graduate school applications for chemistry departments who have researchers focused on the field of chemical biology, a field I was introduced to while at Scripps."

What's next: "As one of the REU final poster session winners, I was awarded a travel grant to a present at a conference this year. My REU poster was just accepted to the 249th American Chemical Society National Meeting in Denver this March. It will be my first chance to attend a national meeting."

UPDATE! As of Fall 2015, Amber was accepted to TSRI's graduate program and began her doctoral studies on the Scripps Florida campus!
