Industry Bridge Program

The Scripps California Society of Fellows' Career Development Committee coordinates an industry exposure program involving numerous on-site visits to local pharmaceutical and biotech companies.

This program is designed to provide opportunities for Scripps postdocs and graduate students to learn about industry careers by visiting biotech, pharmaceutical and medical device companies.  As part of the experience, postdocs will have the opportunity to obtain industry exposure, interact with industry scientists and learn how to prepare for the transition from academia to industry.

The company visit

Company visits will vary depending on the companies’ needs and can last from a few hours to all day.  A typical visit will consist of a facilities tour, presentations by the company employees (research, company mission, etc) and a network lunch for the postdocs to get a chance to talk with the industry scientists in small groups.  There will be no one-on-one meetings. The purpose of this program is not to lead you to a job offer; it is for you to get an inside look at life as an industry scientist.

Selection of participants is on a first-come first-serve basis.  On average we expect 10-20 participants per visit. Upcoming visit dates will be announced via the mailing list, and posted to the Society of Fellows website.
