Graduate Student Success Manager


Role: Lucas Aponte-Collazo serves as the Graduate Student Success Manager for the Office of Graduate Studies at Scripps Research. In this role, he is responsible for implementing and coordinating academic strategies for supporting the successful transition of first-year and transfer students and the retention and development of a diverse group of students. This includes orientation, cohort meetings, graduate school success classes and workshops, life skills training, and welcome events.

Background: Lucas holds a bachelor's degree in Microbiology from Universidad del Este at Puerto Rico and a doctorate in Pharmacology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to joining the Office of Graduate Studies at Scripps Research, he served as a mentor for many undergraduate and graduate students. He also participated in multiple programs focused on advising and recruitment of underrepresented minorities in STEM.
