Shannon Deck
Role: Shannon Deck serves as the graduate program project coordinator at Scripps Research and is key in helping to identify the next generation of scientists and researchers who will continue the important work of biomedical research. She has two critical responsibilities: coordinating the graduate program admissions and enrollment processes, and administering the High School Student Research Education Program. For the graduate program, her duties include advising prospective students, organizing the recruiting events, and working collaboratively with the faculty to identify applicants with great potential. For the High School Student Research Education Program, Shannon coordinates the admissions process and lab placements, and organizes program activities including the boot camp, seminars and final presentations.
Background: Prior to joining Scripps Research, Deck served as the academic records coordinator at NewSchool of Architecture and Design in downtown San Diego for more than four years. Deck's focus was to provide students with quality service in the areas of appeals and requests.
