Graduate Program Project Coordinator


Role: Paolo Garcia serves as the graduate program project coordinator at Scripps Research on the Florida campus. In this role, he is responsible for coordinating and organizing a number of critical education and outreach activities including recruiting, admissions, enrollment, and orientation. In regard to recruitment, he organizes the admissions and interview processes for the graduate program in close collaboration with the California campus, and after the incoming class has been identified, Garcia is heavily involved in the enrollment and orientation of the new students. In addition, Garcia coordinates Scripps Research’s participation in recruiting events and helps to recruit high quality, diverse students to the graduate and outreach programs including the High School Student Summer Internship and Summer Undergraduate Research Fellows (SURF) Programs. Lastly, Garcia makes sure that the story of our engaging programs is shared through various social media platforms as well as other communication pieces.

Background: Garcia received a bachelor’s degree in environmental science and policy from the University of South Florida and an MBA in management from USF St. Petersburg. Prior to joining Scripps Research, Garcia worked as an client finance accountant at McKinsey & Company. He has also served in undergraduate admissions, graduate enrollment, and fiscal roles at University of South Florida, St. Petersburg.
