Diversity and Inclusion

Scripps Research is dedicated to and benefits from faculty, student and staff populations that are diverse in background, culture, socioeconomic status, and ethnicity. A wide range of perspectives and experiences is essential for educational and scientific excellence.

There are more than 65 countries represented in our researchers. The top 10 countries after the United States are China, India, Japan, Germany, Spain, South Korea, Canada, Italy, France, and Taiwan.

As a part of our long-standing commitment to increase the diversity and quality of our graduate student body, the Skaggs Graduate School works to:

  • Build public awareness of and engagement with Scripps Research’s education and outreach programs;
  • Create and foster an environment of mutual respect and tolerance of diverse views, beliefs, and backgrounds;
  • Develop a technologically-advanced environment that supports innovation and collaboration in teaching, learning, and mentoring of all students; and
  • Identify and establish relationships with potential donors who can provide named fellowships and other support for graduate education.
