2020 Virtual Commencement Ceremony
The Skaggs Graduate School of Chemical and Biological Sciences at Scripps Research is pleased to present our first-ever Virtual Commencement Ceremony, celebrating our 44 newest doctoral degree recipients who comprise Scripps Research’s 28th graduating class.
While social distancing requirements due to the novel coronavirus outbreak necessitated the cancellation of the 2020 in-person commencement ceremony, the virtual event still honors the academic achievements and scientific accomplishments of our graduates, plus something new!
Similar to our traditional in-person ceremony, the virtual event features student introductions by their faculty mentors, but this year you’ll also hear from many of the students! Many of them have recorded short messages of their own, expressing gratitude to their advisor, fellow lab members, and family, as well as sharing anecdotes about their graduate school experience.
We hope you enjoy this event, which serves as both a celebration of research and discovery, as well as the tremendous perseverance of our graduate students as they prepare to launch their career in the sciences.
