Of Mentors and Receptors

Let's look back at another of our amazing 2019 summer interns! Meet Alyssa Quintero, a junior at Syracuse University, who worked this past summer in the lab of Scripps Research pharmacologist Professor Laura Bohn. She participated in the Florida campus's NSF-funded Research Experiences for Undergradates (REU) program.
While in the Bohn lab, Quintero measured how cannabinoid receptors function in immune cells and how this could be used to understand how cannabinoids, such as THC or cannabidiol, affect inflammation. She also had the opportunity to work in an inspirational environment, under the watchful eye of mentors who had a powerful impact on her outlook.
