Doctoral Thesis: A Tale of Two Ligands: Exploring the Therapeutic Value of Targeting the Proteasomal Ubiquitin Receptor Rpn13
Undergraduate Institution: Northeastern University
Noteworthy Publications: Mechanistic Studies of the Multiple Myeloma and Melanoma Cell-Selective Toxicity of the Rpn13-Binding Peptoid KDT-11, Cell Chemical Biology (2020)
Honors & Awards: Scripps Research Dean's Fellowship (2015-16); Richard & Helen DeVos Graduate Fellowship (2015-16); Farris Foundation Graduate Student Fellowship (2017); Network for Women in Science, Executive Committee member
Favorite Aspects of Graduate Studies: "I will always remember my incredible experiences at the Scripps Graduate Program Annual Retreat in Lake Arrowhead. The opportunity to engage with fellow graduate students and faculty from both Florida and California campuses expanded my scientific horizons and forged relationships that otherwise would not have been possible. The Career Development office was also instrumental in preparing me for my next professional steps, and has supported me and my peers in building a strong foundation for our futures as scientific leaders."
Next Steps: "I am currently a scientist at X-Chem, where I apply innovative drug discovery technologies toward the identification of potential therapeutic candidates. Throughout my career I hope to continue contributing to (and ultimately lead) the discovery of new medicines for disease treatment. Outside of the lab, I plan to continue my outreach efforts with the goal of bridging the gap between science and community."

Be sure to join us at 10 a.m. PDT on Friday, May 21 for our Virtual Commencement Ceremony! Dickson's advisor and mentor, Prof. Tom Kodadek, will deliver a few words (as will Dickson) about her graduate experience, and viewers can learn about our 41 other 2021 graduates, who are now setting out to build careers that will impact the future of biomedical research.
