Vincent Vartabedian, Ph.D.

Advisor: John R. Teijaro, Ph.D.

Doctoral Thesis: Modulation of Anti-Viral and Anti-Tumor Immune Responses through Chemical and Genetic Means
Undergraduate Institution: Emory University
Noteworthy Publications: Selective blockade of the lyso-PS lipase ABHD12 stimulates immune responses in vivo, Nature Chemical Biology (2018)
Favorite Aspects of Graduate Studies: "The best part of my graduate school experience at TSRI (Scripps Research) was meeting and working with fantastic people who I am proud to now call my friends. A particular highlight for me was working on collaborative projects with amazing scientists such as Emily Chin, Takaachi Ichu and Daisuke Ogasawara. These projects taught me the value of working as a team to achieve a goal."
Next Steps: "I currently am employed as an immunology scientist at Vividion Therapeutics in San Diego, CA. I hope to contribute to bringing Vividion’s first drug to market, hopefully for the treatment of cancer or an immunologic indication."

Be sure to join us at 10 a.m. PDT on Friday, May 21 for our Virtual Commencement Ceremony! Vartabedian's advisor and mentor, Prof. John Teijaro, will deliver a few words about his graduate experience (as will Vartabedian), and viewers can learn about our 41 other 2021 graduates, who are now setting out to build careers that will impact the future of biomedical research.
