Brett Higgins, Ph.D.
Doctoral Thesis: Programming Isotype Specific Plasma Cell Differentiation
Undergraduate Institution: University of Massachusetts Amherst
Noteworthy Publications: Programming Isotype Specific Plasma Cell Function, Trends in Immunology (2019)
Favorite Aspects of Graduate Studies: "The best aspect of Scripps for me has been the group of lifelong friends I have made as we celebrated all the highs and supported each other through all the lows. Though my thesis work at Scripps has solidified my tenacity and persistence, it was my close support that helped me through to the finish. Of many memorable moments, I recall most fondly the Outdoor Club trips to Mammoth for ski weekends and desert camping trips in Anza Borrego."
Next Steps: "I plan to move to the San Francisco bay area where I will continue immunological research in an industry position working on novel immunotherapeutics with a specific interest in immuno-oncology."
Be sure to join us at 10 a.m. PDT on Friday, May 21 for our Virtual Commencement Ceremony! Higgins' advisor and mentor, Prof. Michael McHeyzer-Williams, will deliver a few words about his graduate experience (as will Higgins), and viewers can learn about our 41 other 2021 graduates, who are now setting out to build careers that will impact the future of biomedical research.
