Summer Undergraduate Research Programs at TSRI

Scripps Research SURF StudentsThe Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) invites applications from college undergraduates who are pursuing studies in the chemical and biological sciences and are interested in performing cutting-edge research in one of TSRI's 250 laboratories. Our ten-week summer undergraduate programs are held on both of TSRI's campuses and offer students the opportunity to experience research with and be mentored by our world-renowned faculty.

The goals of TSRI's summer undergraduate research programs are to:

  1. Enable program participants to feel comfortable in a laboratory setting and increase their research skills;
  2. Teach participants to think critically about the theory and application of biomedical research;
  3. Increase the participants’ proficiency in communicating scientific concepts;
  4. Expand the number of underrepresented and first-generation to college students who consider careers in biomedical research.

Students can choose to apply to either the La Jolla campus in California or the Jupiter campus in Florida with one application. The application link allows students to apply for any of the following three programs at TSRI:
